Field Coordinator

The National School Boards Association seeks a detail-oriented professional to support its federal grassroots advocacy programs and assist with strategies to mobilize and expand participation.  Responsibilities include implementing effective communication networks; drafting calls to action, weekly legislative highlights, and action alerts; managing the grassroots advocacy database and website; and assisting with the planning and programming of the Federal Relations Network Conference and smaller meetings. Minimum qualifications:  Two years experience in project management and/or an administrative role; bachelor’s degree in education, public policy or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; familiarity with political process; and excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.  Experience with meeting management and Vocus software preferred.

Director, Council of Urban Boards of Education

The National School Boards Association (NSBA) seeks an experienced professional to provide oversight and leadership to its Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE). The qualified candidate will possess a thorough understanding of issues related to urban education, and offer perspective on the unique needs of urban school districts. Responsibilities include general oversight and management of the CUBE program; providing leadership and education on urban issues; developing, delivering and evaluating programming for urban school board members, including events, research, publications, awards, webinars, and other services; serving as the primary staff liaison on urban issues for the association; ensuring the engagement of CUBE boards and districts in NSBA grassroots advocacy and public policy initiatives; and serving as liaison with NSBA State Association members regarding the unique needs of urban school boards. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; five years experience working with issues related to urban schools and education policy; an understanding of school board governance; experience developing programming for urban audiences; program management experience; and excellent oral and written communication skills. Non-profit association experience preferred.

Project Associate – Coordinated School Health, School Health Programs

The National School Boards Association (NSBA) is recruiting for a Project Associate to oversee and implement project activities and deliverables in a cooperative agreement funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in promotion of coordinated school health (CSH), to include CSH-related collaborations with national and state health and education organizations.  Responsibilities include delivery of multiple information and technical assistance services on school health issues, including training and web-based services; coordinating special projects and assignments, including needs assessments and evaluations, developing written materials and publications, and educational sessions; conducting outreach and collaborating internally and externally on school health topics and project activities; and fulfilling reporting responsibilities. Minimum qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health, or related field; three years experience in management of grant-funded health and/or education-related projects, grant writing, and publication/product development; knowledge of school governance, adolescent and school health and policy issues; strong organizational skills and experience with project management, technical and issue analysis; excellent oral and written communication skills.  Master’s degree in a related field and CDC grant experience preferred.  This is a grant-funded position.

CUBE Coordinator

The National School Boards Association seeks an organized individual to coordinate the Council of Urban Boards of Education’s (CUBE’s) administrative responsibilities, meeting materials, registration, on-site logistics, and CUBE website.  The Coordinator will research and publish resource information; coordinate materials for publication and distribution; maintain the CUBE reference library, computer and hard copy files, database updates, and broadcast email information; maintain, coordinate and update CUBE homepage; monitor and track program expenditures; and perform other administrative duties as assigned.  Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3 years of administrative/secretarial experience; strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management skills and knowledge of web-authoring software; familiarity with budget tracking and development; strong oral and written communication skills.  Experience in meetings management/planning strongly preferred.
